Off Leash Etiquite
Not everyone is aware of what proper dog play
is. Some people are very sensitive with their dogs;
be aware of this, and respond with understanding.
Some are not senstive enough and don't understand what is
appropriate; again, be understanding. Stay calm and
if need be, just leave.
Toys in a Park
If you bring toys to a park, expect them to be "stolen"
by some dogs. Many people will be understanding
and try to get the toy back for you. Not all dogs
are trained to drop on command. If the toy
squeeks, this makes things very exciting to most
dogs. Be patient with toys in a park.
Training Tips
Teach your dog to drop. Start with low interest toys; put a treat on the nose and keep hold of the toy. Say "drop"; when the pooch opens its mouth to take the treat gently take the toy, give the treat. Repeat until the dog starts automatically dropping the toy; if the dog likes playing toy games, start using the toy as a motivator instead of a treat all the time. more hints.
